入社のきっかけ
造船所の基本設計部、機電設計課に勤務していました。
I used to work in Design Section of Basic Design Department of a Shipyard.
設計の仕事は好きでしたが、更なるスキルアップがしたいと思い、以前から興味のあったプログラム開発の仕事に関わりたいと思ったので、年齢的にも最後のチャンスだと思い、転職をしました。
I liked design work, but I wanted to further improve my skills and wanted to be involved in program development work, which I had always been interested in, so I decided to change jobs because I thought it would be my last chance due to my age.
幼い頃からコンピュータ関連の仕事に興味がありましたが、なかなかやる機会がありませんでしたが、職業訓練所でプログラム言語を習得していたところ、ハローワークにいのくまの求人が出ており、今まで勉強してきた船舶に関する知識と英語力が活かせると思い、プログラムの実務経験はなかったのですが、これはチャンスだと思い応募しました。
I had been interested in computer-related work since I was a child, but I never had a chance to do it. While I was learning programming languages at a vocational training institute, I saw a job opening at Hello Work for a position at Inokuma. I thought I could make use of the ship-related knowledge and English language skills I had cultivated, and although I had no programming experience, I thought this would be a good opportunity and applied.
現在の仕事内容
Visual Basic をメインとして積み付け計算機ソフトウエアを開発しています。
We create Loading Computer software mainly using Visual Basic.
完成したソフトウエアをお客様の船へ納品（設定）しに行きます。（出張）
We will deliver (set up) the completed software to the customer’s ship.
また、時々ですが船試運転の出張に行くこともあります。
Sometimes we go on a business trip to test sea trial of a ship.
いのくま自慢
コンピューター言語を使って、色々指示を書き処理の実行をしていくことは、とても面白く興味深いです。
It is very interesting to use computer language to write various instructions and execute processes.

開発したソフトウェアを納品（設定）する際に、外国人の船員にソフトの使い方を教えることが多いのですが、彼らと英語で交流する機会があるのはとても楽しいです。
When delivering (setting up) software we have developed, I often show foreign seafarers how to use the software, and I enjoy the opportunity to interact with them in English.
上司や先輩がとても親切かつ丁寧なため、職場の雰囲気がとてもよく仕事がやりやすいです。
The supervisors and senior staff are very kind and courteous, which makes the workplace atmosphere very pleasant and easy to work in.
年休が取りやすい会社だと思います。
